Branded
Seared flesh.
And in a moment
Memories brand
Themselves to the
Mind.
Acrid aroma or
Fragrance divine.

Thank you for your interest in Justice for Raymond and the “follow” it allowed me to find your interesting blog.
God bless.
Many blessings to you as well…

Interesting how the harsh image of branding is offset by the reference to perfume at the end…compelling imagery…
Thank you for commenting…I do truly appreciate it, but would like to point out that the lines “acrid aroma or fragrance divine” does not reference perfume, those metaphors reference unpleasant and pleasant memories respectively…Again, many thanks!
Rachael
I agree with Michael – those last two sentences, they raise conflict in me.
Thank you for letting me know that there seems to be some confusion about the interpretation of my poem..My thoughts in the writing of it and the partcular use those metaphors are that the “branding” or (instilling) of all memories “acrid aroma or fragrance divine” ( unpleasant or pleasant memories) are in fact adhered to the memory sector of the brain in the exact same manner. Please let me apoligize for any conflict my writing may have imposed upon you…

Mercy, Rachael, no need to apologise!!
Writing is “like that” – it is always interpreted by the individual reader, & we are each so individual of our experiences, we interpret variously.
I loved the scribe, and the conflict I spoke of was a bit of an ache. I really appreciate you explaining to me your intentions and it is ME who should apologise for failing to read it as it was meant.
Really good stuff – & thanks so much for bothering to respond.
Sincere best
In truth, I was worried that the poem had somehow offended you…but, I’m really glad to know it didn’t…sorry if it did somehow bring forth any bad memories for you…Many well wishes to you for the New Year!
