Wild River
Wild river
Rushing to the ocean’s end
Why do you race
From the spring where you begin
Would it not suffice
To tarry on your way
In lieu of coursing swiftly
And enjoy the path you take
Wild river
Slow your journey down
Gentle all your rapids
And take a look around
At all the breathless wonders
You create with your parade
Wild river
Drift slowly by today

If only we could slow down time and enjoy the world that much longer…
Indeed…and yet we speed through life at light speed, only slowing when finality can be seen on the horizon…
I appreciate you comment 🙂 Thank you..
love it…
Thank you…
This is a beautiful poem, so true, we run too fast like a hasty river…
So very kind of you to say so…many thanks…and yes indeed we do…
My grandmother use to tell me all the time that I was wishing my life away when I would wish I was older, or wish I was finished with school… etc. I think we often don’t experience the here and now looking forward to future events. Very nice poem… gently worded all well put together. 😀
ps. ~ Thanks for stopping by my Halloween blog. I unfortunately had to make changes this morning as I posted the wrong version… but such is life. 😀
I do appreciate you taking time to visit…
So true…thanks greatly for such a kind compliment 🙂
Things do happen…will stop by your blog again 🙂
Since I can’t manage my speed, my intensity, or my course within the banks, then I’ll take notes. When I get to that quiet stretch or sparkling lake I might have time to check my notes. That is if I’m not absorbed in my peaceful surroundings.
Isn’t that the way life always works? Thanks for dropping by 🙂
Reblogged this on poetbblog.
Appreciate the reblog…thanks much!
Wonderful job. I love this.
Thank you 🙂
Wow! I really enjoyed that.
Thanks so much!
Nice use of personification in this. Poignant and something a lot of people will relate to.
Thank you…
Thank you for visiting my blog. Here I am visiting yours and have happened upon this beautiful poem, so universal in its sentiments but also, for me, on a very personal level, as I am beng nudged, rather aggressively, into accepting a different way of life.
Lovely poem
Christine.
Thank you for your kind comment and do hope everything turns out for the better..
I loved your words, thanks for sharing!
Many thanks!
Rachael
I desire wild, but to linger is truly delicious!

Beautiful message. I am blessed to live at the mouth of a wild river in Oregon where it flows into the Pacific Ocean. Although there are many wild and scenic (and sometimes deadly) rapids along its course, there are equally beautiful placid, languorous stretches where the river slows and spreads and moseys along, just as you have suggested in your poem. Thank you for capturing this for our imaginations.
It must be gorgeous there…Many thanks!
Rachael
A lovely poem that has many layers.
Thank you for the lovely compliment…it is much appreciated!
Rachael 🙂
An enjoyable travel down a furious river!
Glad you enjoyed…

Rivers make for wonderful highways, but yes, perhaps even better byways…..
Nice to float with you!
